Hyperaccents was started in Deerfield Beach Florida, back in 1990 .
At the time I got hit in the head with a surfboard, and realized it would not have hurt so much if it was smaller, and so I made a bunch of mini surfboards, and have been wearing them in my hair ever since.
Actually that’s not what really happened, I did get hit in the head with the Idea though , and started to paint them right away, I was making them for all my friends, and soon decided to patent the design and start a Surfboard Hair Barrette business.
Eventually in the mid 1990’s Surfboard Hair Barrettes were in almost every Surf shop in the USA.

er fof we did some started in 2025 thinking about the bring back teh barretts is was a tesing periojperid a testing period that we have added a lot of value to the product includig a a brand name now know as catcha weave in the barrettes used to have paint splattered on the back and that wsa ok for most but looks much better now with the details on theback with teh protective cover on the clip
